Mekyle Ali Qadir

Mekyle Ali Qadir is a Pakistani-Canadian poet currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He came to poetry through the Urdu poetic tradition and was shaped from childhood by poems recited to him in both his languages.

Drawing from his experiences as an immigrant, his work explores South Asian diasporic journeys, migration, identity, spirituality, and cultural traditions through a poetic voice shaped by intimacy, displacement, and belonging. His writing engages with mysticism, postcolonial inquiry, and the emotional landscapes of movement across borders.

Crescendo is his debut poetry collection.
